| We got SUED and WON! It's a long story, but I'll give you the short version. We got sued by our neighbor who owns the property next our vacation rental home. Supposedly, (according to our neighbor) one of our renting guests trespassed on his property with an ATV. He stated that 36 pine trees (5-6 ft tall) were destroyed. However, no one knows when this happened and no one saw any of our guests on his property. He guessed that the occurrence happened some time between July and September of 2007 and assumed that this was perpetrated by one of our guests. In December of 2007, we were served with papers. In September of 2008, we appeared in court with our attorney and the suit against us was dismissed by the judge. Why are we sharing this with you? Because, we feel that everyone should know that we were covered by PrePaid Legal Services, at barely no cost to us. We were fully represented by an attorney and walked away from court with extremely minimal cost to us. If we wouldn't have been PrePaid members, we would have paid an attorney bill well over $2000! We only paid the cost of our normal monthly membership (which is cheap, by the way) and the cost of mileage, for him to drive to court. That's it! We had a fantastic attorney who gave us the same (or better) treatment, as any other client. We sincerely felt like he cared about our well being and made his every best effort to represent us in the best way possible. You are more likely to end up in court in your lifetime, than end up in the hospital! This is a true FACT! Jim & I have been PrePaid Legal members for over 3 years now. We've use the membership here and there, for small things, like for our wills, document reviews, and legal advice. However, we didn't truly realize the full value until we were sued by our neighbor. It was an eye opening experience! Now we use our membership whenever we have any legal questions.
